Who is the Foundations of Conversational Intelligence Program for?
The Foundations of Program is designed for professionals new to Conversational Intelligence who have not attended other C-IQ courses or programs. The program introduces the essential concepts of C-IQ, focusing on its application to yourself and your everyday and business conversations. If you are a business leader or owner, corporate leader or professional, a consultant or coach - really, anyone whose work relies on conversations with others - you will find valuable and immediately useful learning in this program!
In addition to its status as a ‘standalone’ program, the Foundations Program is Phase I of the upcoming three-phase C-IQ Accreditation. This accreditation program is currently in design; you can find an overview of Accreditation here. More details will be available very soon.
Whether you are interested in just this one program, or you plan to attend our other C-IQ programs in the future, Foundations of Conversational Intelligence is considered ‘foundational,’ and will be a registration requirement for many of our future programs.
What do I need to do if I want to be accredited in C-IQ?
Successful completion of The Foundations of C-IQ program is the first step in becoming an accredited Conversational Intelligence coach. The remaining phases of the accreditation program are currently in design; more details will be shared in the next few weeks. In the meantime, you will find an overview of Accreditation here.
How is this program different from past C-IQ programs?
The programs offered by The CreatingWE® Institute are not the same as other C-IQ programs you may have attended in the past. Judith E. Glaser, founder of the Institute, had a deep belief that immersive learning and application were critical to ‘living Conversational Intelligence’, whether in a virtual classroom, a business setting, or at home. Putting this into practice, in the moment, is where the impact and shifts of C-IQ occur. This is what we do when we work with clients and organizations, and this is how transformation occurs.
Conversational Intelligence rests on several science disciplines – neuroscience and anthropology - as well as the most recent research on leadership, communication, and human groups. As a result, our programs are steeped in research, innovation, and tangible, yet nuanced concepts. At their core, though, they are about learning, applying, and embodying Conversational Intelligence, not just listening to us present (as riveting as we may be!) And because our programs are about conversations, program leaders facilitate the modules in pairs, so our conversations are part of the process.
Is this a self-paced program?
No, it is not. Because Conversational Intelligence is about, well - conversations, we strongly believe thatholding live, interactive sessions, and immersive ExperiMentor groups is critical to the application of C-IQ. Our modules (including practice breakout rooms), and ExperiMentor groups are held virtually via Zoom, and regular participation in the practice sessions is part of your learning commitment.
Recordings of the main module sessions will be accessible to you to use as a refresher, or in the event you have to miss a session. The module practice groups, and ExperiMentor group sessions will not be recorded.
What are payment options?
You may pay via PayPal or credit card in one or two payments.
How much time should I set aside for this program?
The program is 11 weeks long, each of the 5 module periods are 2 weeks long, with weekly sessions alternating between Module learning and ExperiMentor group sessions. (See the calendar). Plan to allow approximately 4.5 hours of dedicated time for each 2-week Module period:
The Orientation Module is 90 minutes in length.
Each of the 5 learning Modules are 2 hours long
Each of the 5 ExperiMentor sessions are 90 minutes long
Plan for an addition 1 hour for Fieldwork and planning per module.
The modules are specifically designed to incorporate practice; and Fieldwork (‘applying your learning to the outside world’) is part of the program. Within each 2-week module period, you will select upcoming conversations in your personal world to apply your C-IQ learning, and then reflect on what you’ve learned.
In addition, you will be part of a small ExperiMentor group of your peers for discussion and additional practice.
Where can I use the skills I learn in this program? Can I use the tools in my business or with my clients/client organizations?
At this beginning stage of your C-IQ journey, the focus is on building skills for your ‘self-use’ – developing C-IQ mastery, and beginning to apply the tools to your own conversations. We know from our experience working with a diversity of people and groups: they find Conversational Intelligence to be impactful, both personally and professionally, no matter where they choose to apply it.
If you are interested in formally using C-IQ knowledge and our tools/resources in your business or with your clients or client organizations, you will want to pursue Accreditation. Each level of the accreditation process includes deeper training, and permissions to use the resources in your work. More information on this and the accreditation process will be forthcoming very soon.
I’m a certified C-IQ Coach. Can I attend the Foundations of Conversational Intelligence program?
This particular program is specifically designed for people who are not yet familiar with Conversational Intelligence. Integrating experienced C-IQ coaches into this program isn’t optimal as it has a strong impact on the group, and individual learning and dynamics. We appreciate you giving us the opportunity to keep this program focused only on new learners; we will keep you informed about new offerings that can expand your own work with C-IQ.
I’m an Enhanced Coach through the C-IQ for Coaches Program. Do I need to take the Foundations of C-IQ program in order to be certified?
No, you do not. If you have successfully completed the Enhanced Program, you do not need to attend the Foundations Program to qualify for the Phases II and III of Accreditation. When Phase II dates are announced later this year, contact us at [email protected], and we will guide you on the process.
Will ICF CCEU's be available?
Yes. Successful completion of the Foundations Program earns you up to 23.5 CCEU’s through ICF (14 Core Competency; 9.5 Resource Development).
